What is Half Rez?

Half Rez is a blowout party celebrating the amazing motion artists, designers, producers, students, and studios that make Chicago and the Midwest the community it is.

This year the nighttime event will focus entirely on the celebration part of Half Rez! This way everyone can focus on networking, games, prizes, cubes, food, and drinks!

If you love the educational part of a traditional Half Rez it’s different this year.

Who is Half Rez for? Friendly, fun, professional people in the motion design industry! Motion designers, animators, designers, producers, studios, and new students!

MAIN STAGE SPEAKERS

Jonathan Winbush is a multi-award-winning motion graphics artist known for collaborating with leading entertainment companies. He shares his expertise through weekly YouTube tutorials and has spoken at major industry events around the world. Johnathan's innovative work and dedication to education have made him a prominent figure in the industry, inspiring the next generation of artists.

Justin Cone With 25 years of experience, Justin has shaped creative strategies and led teams at top organizations like Apple, Adobe, and NBC-Universal. As co-founder of Motionographer and the F5 festival, he’s championed diverse creative voices globally. Currently, as Executive Director of Communications at BUCK and Residence, he drives strategic initiatives and fosters a sustainable creative culture for nearly 700 employees.

Collin Leix is an animator who uses 3D, VR, and hand-painted techniques to explore subtly surreal landscapes and peeks of bodies. Previously at the Detroit studio Gunner, she is now an Associate Creative Director at the language-learning software Duolingo. Her work is inspired by language, musical notation, miscommunication, and her babies.

EJ Hassenfratz is a multi-Emmy winning 3D artist and educator based out of Denver, Colorado. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Hassenfratz has conducted numerous webinars and presented at events such as NAB, Adobe Video World, and SIGGRAPH. He is the creative director at School of Motion

Patrick 4D is Patrick Foley, a 3D Artist based in Atlanta GA specializing in digital photorealism within the food and product space. Previously a Director of Photography in the commercial/film industry, Patrick leverages his knowledge in camera, lighting, and composition inside 3D programs such as Zbrush, Cinema 4D, and Octane to create photorealistic indulgences.
